Consultations

Consultations are by appointment, with the exception of emergencies, which of course always take priority. Normally you should not need to wait long for your appointment. Treatment of the same case by the same vet each time is encouraged to ensure continuity of treatment and assessment.

Home Visits

Home Visits can be arranged but incur additional costs. If you need this service, please speak to reception. They will be able to tell you in advance what the costs will be which is in addition to our normal consultation fee. Please remember that there are limited facilities in the home which makes a visit to the surgery more efficient and of greater value to your pet's health

Nurse Consultations

One of the new services we are offering in preventative health care here at Andale is the 6 monthly Pet health checks with one of our fully qualified Veterinary Nurses.

We recommend that we see pets at a Health Check Clinic 6 months after their annual vaccinations. You can, of course, book a clinic whenever you feel it would be helpful.

This service is an excellent opportunity to seek information and advice about your pet(s) and for us to examine and check for any early signs of illness.

Our Nurses examine your pet's eyes, ears, teeth, coat and nails. After weighing, we will offer any necessary advice about eating and drinking regimes.

Before you leave the Nurse Clinic you will be given any necessary advice and a recommendation as to whether or not further action seems appropriate - and if it is not, you will be able to go away with peace of mind that your pet is in good shape and healthy!

Remember, we are not here just because your pet is sick. We strive to keep your pet healthy and happy throughout its life, and not merely to provide professional treatment if things go wrong. Never be afraid to seek advice which we will give to the best of our ability.

We will send you out a card in 6 months time to remind you of this service.

Surgery

Surgery is performed on the premises on a daily basis. We have 2 dedicated operating theatres which are fully equipped to cope with a wide range of operations including neutering, orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery to name but a few. An ultra-sonic scaler and modern equipment is employed for dental work.

Anaesthesia

Anaesthesia is now a relatively safe procedure using modern equipment and drugs. Patients are closely watched by trained staff and continually assessed by a 'state of the art' respiratory and ECG monitor. We have piped gas in both theatres and prep room and some dedicated kennels.

Hospitalisation Facilities

Hospitalisation Facilities are provided for the very sick and those recovering from operations. Our kennels are maintained to the highest standard of hygiene. Heating and bedding are provided. You will be able to see your pet into its kennel personally and help him/her to settle in.

Diagnostic Facilities

Diagnostic Facilities are frequently used to help in the diagnosis of disease and injury. Facilities available include:

  • ECG
  • X-ray machine
  • Ultrasound
  • Blood analyser

The latter enables results to be obtained often within a few hours. Cats can be tested for leukemia and other viruses. In certain circumstances it may be necessary to refer samples to a specialist laboratory.

Pet Health Care Products

Pet Health Care Products are available in the waiting room. These include:

  • Flea control products
  • Shampoos
  • Worming preparations
  • Vitamin supplements
  • Hygiene products
  • Cat carrying boxes
  • Grooming combs
  • Quality collars and leads
  • Reliable training aids

In addition, a wide range of informative pamphlets are freely available.

Hills Science Diets

Hills Science Diets are on sale and our nutrition advisers will be happy to advise you about feeding your pet and give you a sample or two to take away.

Preventative Care

Preventative Care is the cornerstone of our practice philosophy. Annual vaccination against infectious diseases for all dogs, cats and rabbits is highly recommended. Pre-vaccinal, adolescent and elderly animal health checks are all part of our comprehensive range of services. Specialist referrals are available including osteopathy and homeopathy.

Free Pet Weighing

We offer a free weight check for all pet animals. Please call in during opening hours and talk to a member of staff.
